Well we get to the hotel to pick them up and when they get down its obvious that they've already gotten into the hard stuff... Trish gets loud and funny and I'd never seen Cobi that tipsy... they told us that they had downed about 8 oz of red wine in less than 5 minutes just before coming down to the car. So we're driving off and we're trying to figure out where we want to have dinner... my sister is trying to describe some restaurants that we've been to before and I'm trying not to laugh to hard at her attempts to describe one of my favorite restaurants in Edmonton, (Pagolak)... Well long story short we find out that we won't be able to go because it will take too long to get there. Anyway I suggest that we head over to Japanese Village, since neither Trish or Cobi had been there and I love going anyplace where they make your food in front of you!! Well we're on our way to the restaurant, when my sister and Cobi start getting all excited about the sign for the Sherlock Holmes Pub... I ask if they would rather go there... with Pub in the name I should have known better since the answer was a definite YES!!!!
Well I've been to Sherlock Holmes pub before so I knew what to expect... but it was so funny seeing everything through two tipsy ladies eyes... They asked me to take a picture of them inside the London-style phone booth... it didn't have a phone in it so Cobi pretended with her hand... LOL!!
We get inside and its really crowded - something I wasn't expecting for a Monday night. We grab the only 'clean' table left, which just happened to be located under some stairs - my sister was like "this is like Harry Potter... we're under the stairs". We order some Vodka Slimes and a Pepsi for my hubby who was our DD... and then Cobi and Trish are trying to whisper to each other about some of the other patrons... except, they've forgotten HOW to whisper, so I can clearly hear EVERYTHING they say - which is funny!! Cobi starts saying that the room is spinning... guess she's a lightweight like me!! LOL. Finally our food arrives and Cobi and Trish start eating their Butter Chicken... it came with some sort of crispy rolled bread thing - Cobi kept calling it a Pompadom... And then Trish kept saying that the Pompadom was spicy and it was kicking her butt so she made me eat some of it and I told her that it wasn't spicy at all... But she continued to tell us all that it was kicking her butt... LOL I had the Haddock and Chips... UBER YUMMY!!! I love pub food... its so deliciously BAD for you!! LOL
We drove them to Rexall Place just in time for them to get to their seats!! Chris and I laughed all the way home...
And then we went inside and all of my happy left... I went to check on the puppy and he had my couch blanket on the floor and on top of it was the remains of my Eclipse book cover (the shiny paper one) ... I'm glad that I had the hardcover so he didn't chew it to bits... but he did destroy one of the corners... Normally I wouldn't get so upset about him finding paper to chew on - but I am a HUGE book lover and I like to keep my books in really REALLY good condition, so when I come home and find that my very bad puppy has chewed on one of my favorite books, I get not just a little mad.
I just don't understand him - he has a huge bin of toys, a tonne of rawhide's to chew, a lot of nyla-bones and I had even given him some denta-bones and a healthy edible bone that morning... Plus he gets to chase the kitties around all day, so why is he destroying MY stuff??? Whats worse is that that book had been in the same spot since Christmas and he didn't touch it until yesterday??? WHAT GIVES????
I'm back to thinking that maybe we don't spend enough time with him - but how can I spend more time with him when I work all week and then come home to do chores and cooking etc. My hubby suggested taking him to a puppy daycare, but we really can't afford to do that... I really wish it would warm up so he could have some more outside time - he does enjoy being outside... and I wish it wasn't so icy on the sidewalks so maybe we could go on long walks again... I'm just sick of coming home to find him destroying something else that I love... like my new dining chairs - which he has pretty much destroyed 2 of the 4...
I'm going to have to think long and hard about what to do about my bad bad puppy... So far my choices are to:
- kennel him during the day - which seems cruel to me since we're gone between 9.5-12 hours at a time
- put him in a puppy day-care - which we really can't afford right now
- do nothing until the weather gets better and then have him outside in a fenced in area with a doghouse and toys - which will only work during the day when its nice weather
- or... find him a new home... - which will break my heart, because even though I get mad when he wrecks stuff I still love him so very much.
I just need to figure out what is best for him... any thoughts?

You have come to the exact point we were at with Annie. We both worked, at night we didn't have the energy to give her all the attention she needed.
Even though we built a dog-run, we couldn't leave her outside all day unattended - maybe she'd bark all day or maybe the weather would turn bad [she had a doghouse but still.
She was young and needed more that we could give. She needed training - she was so smart. She had no bad habits but I could see her potential going to waste.
We made the decision to find her a new home.
Gramma's puppy used to empty all the garbages all over the house when they went out.
Puppies try to tell you, the only way they know how, that they need more. If you can give it - give it. If you can't, then love says to give them the opportunity to get what they need by finding them a new home.
It's not about giving them up, it's about giving them what they need. It's about love.
Yes, it will hurt. We still think about Annie. But we know we did the right thing for her and for us.
You'll make the decision you need to make - just trust yourself.
Thanks mom... love you lots!
